For Christ's love
compels us.
2 Corinthians
5:14
What
would your life be like if you didn’t know Jesus as your Savior?
Can you
even begin to imagine facing all of life’s challenges and heartaches
without the wonderful promises and encouragements in God’s Word?
We have students at Wisconsin Lutheran High School who don’t yet
fully know the peace and joy that comes through faith in Jesus
Christ or from being a student of God’s Holy Word.
Thank
God for moving these students to seek out WLHS – for whatever the
reason! You see, the WLHS faculty does an extraordinary job of
sharing Jesus and teaching and modeling Christian principles and
Biblical truths. I believe God is providing ever increasing ways to
reach more students with the Gospel message. He recently led the
Board of Directors to establish a new position – Campus Pastor.
Considering the spiritual consequences, the need for this position
is real and urgent! Will you help me fund the first year’s expenses
for the WLHS Campus Pastor? I need to raise $60,000 by September 1st.
Your gift of $50, $250, $500, $1,000, or more will help me reach my
goal.
You may be wondering what the WLHS Campus Pastor will do.
·
40% of his time will be used to
work one-on-one with students who have no church home
in order to help them better assimilate into the WLHS culture:
life is all about Jesus and God’s Word. An especially exciting
aspect of this mission work will be the opportunity for our Campus
Pastor to meet with these students and their families in their own
homes.
·
40% of his time will be used to
recruit students for the public ministry,
especially the pastoral ministry. We envision this
Campus Pastor involving these future teachers and pastors in his
evangelism work with the students who have no church home. In
fact, we believe this position and focus will actually give our
entire student body a new appreciation and taste for ministry –
both as future called workers and lay leaders.
·
20% of his time will be used to
teach two freshmen religion classes
and assist in coaching a boys’ sport.
By God’s
grace, the WLHS Campus Pastor will play a critical role in raising
up a new generation of Christians with a deep appreciation for
mission outreach, especially among the diverse communities of
Greater Milwaukee.
Jesus and God’s Word change people! Jesus gives our lives a sense
of purpose and direction. God’s Word molds and shapes our plans and
goals for the future. You have seen it happen in your life, just as
I have in mine.
Now you have the opportunity to enable this change in the life of a
WLHS student who currently has no church home, and at the same time
encourage more young men and women to prepare for a life of
Christian service as a pastor or teacher.
As always, I boldly ask for your prayers. Pray for our students,
our faculty, and especially our new Campus Pastor. May God use him
to enable all the students that God brings to WLHS to grow in the
grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
With joy
in His Service,
Pastor Jim Kleist, Superintendent (’68)
Wisconsin Lutheran High School Conference
