This course is a one-semester class which teaches students how to use a computer keyboard properly using the touch method. This skill will be developed and applied to formatting documents useful in the personal life of a student/citizen (personal business letters, academic reports, tables, etc). It will be useful in future educational experiences, in personal life, and provides the foundation skill for the profession many students choose. It is a prerequisite for Using Technology.

Computer Applications (0703) 9 .5
Computer Applications is a one-semester class at the freshman level designed for those students who can operate a computer keyboard but lack formatting skills. Their keyboarding skills will be enhanced and applied to: (1) formatting documents useful in the personal life of a student/citizen (personal business letters, academic reports, tables, etc.) (2) researching on the Internet (3) preparing a PowerPoint presentation. It is a prerequisite for Using Technology.

Using Technology (0704) 9,10,11,12 .5
Students who complete Using Technology will obtain a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Professional Suite, thus enabling them to better use their God-given gifts in the area of technology. Units include studies of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Internet use. The class culminates with an office simulation that encompasses all disciplines.Pre-req:  Keyboarding or Computer Applications, or Keyboarding Proficiency Test

Electronic Publishing (0707)

Electronic Publishing is a one-semester course designed to familiarize students with a variety of emerging technologies. Students will learn how to build and maintain websites using Dream Weaver, including creating podcasts and webcasts. Students will also learn the basics of desktop publishing using In Design.

Exploring Business (0713) 9,10 1
This course is designed to give the student a knowledge of those business activities which affect everyone regardless of economic status (credit, checking accounts, insurance, etc). It also provides an exploration of business careers.

Accounting I (0723) 10,11,12 1
This first year accounting course is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors and has the following goals: (1) to know accounting as it relates to careers; (2) to know accounting terminology; (3) to understand accounting concepts, principles and practices; (4) to apply accounting procedures.

Advanced Accounting (0726) 11,12 1
This one-year course is open to students successfully completing Accounting I. It applies accounting concepts learned in the first year to special situations, increases students' knowledge of accounting principles, and relates accounting to career opportunities.

Business Occupations (0743) 12 1
In this capstone course, the students develop a working knowledge of sound business practices. This course is encouraged for all Business Cooperative Education participants. Topics covered in Business Occupations are: Working Smart in Work Place 2000, Ethics in the American Business Community, Human Relations and Career Development. The students are also given the opportunity to further refine their business application skills through skills development exercises.

Business and Personal Law (0752) 11,12 .5
This course examines the roles and functions of law in our daily lives. Throughout the semester, students will examine laws relating to societal living, contracts, property, and labor. In addition, students will, through the study of God's Word, determine how a Christian should live in an increasing litigious society. The class culminates with a mock trial, in which students assume the roles of the parties of a court case.

This course is designed to develop in the student financial management skills. Students will learn to use their personal financial resources to enjoy today and be financially secure tomorrow. Proper Christian stewardship principles will be stressed. The class culminates with each student developing a personal financial plan.

Marketing is designed to enable the student to develop an understanding of the broad field of marketing. This course includes instructional areas designed to provide learning of the fundamental marketing processes, i.e.: market concepts and strategies, sales and promotional techniques. The student will see why marketing is important to the success of every organization and vital to our economic growth and development. The students enrolled in this course will be part of a student-operated store.

Entrepreneurship (0780) 11,12 .5
This course is open to seniors who intend to enter the field of business finance or management. It is also intended for the student who is considering owning his/her own business in the future.
Pre-req: Successful completion of Accounting I
     
Business Cooperative Education 12 2
This one-year course is open to any senior student who meets the qualifications of the program. In order to qualify, the student must have completed one full unit of Business Education courses, maintained a good attendance record and have at least a 2.0 GPA. This course offers to the student the opportunity to work, with arranged release time, in actual business settings. Seniors pursuing a strong emphasis in business are encouraged to apply. Upon successful completion of the program, up to two units are granted. (The student must concurrently be enrolled in a Business course).
