Groups
and Ensembles
Viking Band
The Viking Band meets daily and is open to all members of
the student body with the ability to perform on a band instrument.
The band consists
of a competitive marching band in the fall
and a concert band for the remainder of the year. Four major
concert performances are given throughout the year. Placement
within the group is by audition. Keyboard/piano players are
invited to inquire about performing on mallet percussion instruments.

Color Guard
Tryouts for the Color Guard are normally restricted to members
of the Viking Band. Students may
try out for either flags
or rifles. Most of the performances are coordinated with the
marching unit of the Viking Band.
Jazz Ensemble
Jazz Ensemble is a co-curricular ensemble which requires auditions
for entrance. Performances
are given throughout the year at
grade schools, churches, at the Benefit Concert, and Prism
concerts. Rehearsals are scheduled once per
week for 90 minutes.
Electric guitar, bass guitar, and piano players are encouraged
to audition in addition to band instruments.
Pep Band
Pep Band is normally restricted to members of
the Viking Band.
No audition is necessary. Performances are at selected athletic
events
and pep rallies. Most rehearsals take place immediately
prior to performances.
Other Ensembles
Dixieland Combo, Jazz Combo, Flute Choir, Brass Choir, Clarinet
Choir, Woodwind Ensemble, Sax Choir, Trumpet Choir, Percussion
Ensemble, and Pit Orchestra are normally restricted to members
of the Viking Band. No audition is necessary. These groups
perform throughout the year in school, for WSMA Festivals,
and at local churches.
Choirs
All choirs meet daily. The choirs present three
major concerts
each year and sing at conference congregations on a rotation
basis.

A Cappella Choir
−The A Capella Choir consists of juniors and seniors. It is
a
mixed choir which requires auditions
for entrance.

Cantorei
−This choir is a mixed choir consisting of sophomore, junior,
and
senior girls. No audition is necessary to
be in this choir.

Freshman Choir
−This choir is open to
all freshmen who desire to continue
a structured singing experience beyond
the grade school level

Choirs

Inspiration −Inspiration is a co-curricular vocal group which sings Christian
contemporary and vocal jazz music. Membership by audition
only is determined each spring for the following school year.

Wisco Kids − Wisco Kids Swing Choir
is a co-curricular vocal group which
performs a choreographed show of popular music. Membership,
by audition only, is determined each spring for the following
school year.
Jubilation Handbell Choir
The handbell choir is selected by audition and
open to all students. Jubilation meets twice a week after
school for 90 minutes and performs at all choral concerts,
school, and community events throughout the year.
Musical/Drama
WLHS presents a drama in the fall and a
musical in the spring. Student auditions are
held approximately three months prior to the performances. In
addition to on-stage performers, instrumentalists are needed
for the pit orchestra,
as well as many behind-the-scene production workers.
