JEROME HARDERS

Class of 1950

Arts

A grandson of one of the founding fathers of Lutheran High School, Jerry’s love for Christian education has deep roots. He was placed in charge of the WLHS art department in 1957. Under his expertise the art program at WLHS flourished, as evidenced by the numerous state and national awards that his students received during his tenure. Various pieces of Jerry’s work still adorn WLHS. A large mixed media cross, photos, and a beautiful oil painting are all wonderful testimonies to the artistic abilities that God gave to Jerry. Even after his retirement, Jerry has remained very involved in the ministry of WLHS as a volunteer. While we thank God for the joy that Jerry’s ministry and work has brought into our lives, Jerry thanks God for the joy brought into his life through WLHS.

Inducted Saturday, April 26, 2003.

Jerry was born in Milwaukee and has fond memories of the very early days of LHS as seen through his grandfather’s eyes. His fondest memory at WLHS is not of a single event, but of an ongoing display of the Holy Spirit motivating lives. He and his wife Elisabeth reside in West Allis.
