RONALD UNKE

Ron has demonstrated exceptional Christian leadership, character and achievement during his 41 year ministry at WLHS. To this day he is still lovingly known as "Coach" by the students he coached in baseball (36 years) and football (22 years). At Lutheran High School he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison and was baseball M.V.P. in 1953. He signed with the St. Louis Cardinals and that same year Ron was inducted into the Wisconsin Coaches Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983 and the Wisconsin Old Time Ball Players Hall of Fame in 1993. He received a B.S. and M.S. in education from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and received his synodical certification at Milwaukee Lutheran Teachers’ College. Ron assists the Milwaukee Brewers as a baseball youth instructor.

Inducted Saturday, April 26, 2003.

Ron was born in Milwaukee and attended St. Paul’s grade school before attending LHS. He attributes his career and ministry to the Lord’s plan for his life. He and his wife Carol reside in Wauwatosa.
