Current Giving

Cash Gifts
A cash gift is the easiest, most common way to make a gift. It can result in an immediate tax benefit for you and provide WLHS with funds for current needs.

Credit Cards
We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover donations. Please call Nancy Reichert in the Mission Advancement Office, 414/453-4567 x2013, or go directly to our secure on-line giving page.

Stock or Mutual Fund Shares
Gifts of stocks, especially those that have increased in value, are the best gifts to make for tax benefit purposes. The donor receives a double tax benefit by being able to deduct the full market value of the securities and avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation.

If your stock is currently held in an account with a brokerage firm, making your gift to WLHS will work using Method 1 or 2.

Method 1:
Your gift of stock can be sold (for WLHS) by your broker.  Give your broker a signed letter of instruction with the name of the stock that you will be contributing, number of shares, any restrictions regarding your gift, and the fact that WLHS will be calling to give disposition instructions.  Fax, email or mail a copy of your letter to the WLHS Mission Advancement Office.  WLHS will contact your broker.  No physical exchange will take place.  This is by far the fastest and most efficient form of transfer.

Method 2:
Your stock gift can be transferred electronically into the account of WLHS.  You will simply give your broker a signed letter of instruction to deliver the stock (name of stock and number of shares) to WLHS via “free delivery through DTC.”  Fax, email, or mail a copy of your letter to the WLHS Mission Advancement Office.  WLHS needs written confirmation of the transfer from your broker before we can issue a gift receipt and the only way we can verify your stock transfer is by matching your letter to transaction.  Your broker will require two pieces of information to complete the transfer:

1.       The WLHS stock account is held by  RBC Dain Rauscher - 18500 W. Corporate Dr, Suite 100 Brookfield, WI  53045, and our representative is Don Weltzein (262) 395-1101.  The DTC number is 235.

2.      The account number for Wisconsin Lutheran High School at RBC Dain Rauscher is 1101-8600-7765.

Method 3:
If you hold a physical stock certificate and want to gift that stock to WLHS, we will need three items to complete the gift:

1.       The unsigned stock certificate.  Leave the certificate unsigned, nonnegotiable.

2.       A cover letter.  With the stock certificate, please send a cover letter including your name, address, name of stock, number of shares, certificate numbers, and any restrictions regarding your gift.

3.       In a separate envelope, send a stock power for each stock certificate with your signature guaranteed.  This stock power will be attached to the gifted stock certificate to make it negotiable.  Stock powers are available from brokerage firms or banks.

Planned Giving

Include WLHS in Your Will
A bequest can provide future funding to WLHS and reduce the donor's taxable estate for federal estate tax purposes, if the estate is subject to federal estate tax. Designating a percentage of the estate as a gift to WLHS will have a lasting impact on our ministry of discipling young people for Jesus.

Life Insurance
Paid-up policies that are no longer needed for the protection of your family can be gifted completely to WLHS. You may be eligible to receive an immediate income tax charitable deduction for your adjusted basis in the policy. You could receive future tax charitable deductions for any premiums paid by you.

Retirement Plans
IRA, 401(k), annuity. You may be eligible to receive substantial tax benefits for naming WLHS as the beneficiary of a qualified retirement plan.

Charitable Gift Annuity
This is a simple contract between you and WLHS where you make a gift to the school and receive guaranteed income for life. You may be eligible to receive an immediate income tax charitable deduction for the present value of the future charitable gift.

Charitable Remainder Trust
You transfer assets to a trust, which makes payments to you of either a fixed amount (annuity trust) or percentage of the trust principal (unitrust). You receive an immediate income tax charitable deduction for the present value of the future charitable gift and, if the asset is long-term capital gain property, you do not have to pay any capital gains tax. When the trust ends, WLHS receives all of the trust assets.
