Testing Program and 2007 ACT Scores
WLHS uses standardized testing to assess students' current level of ability and acquired knowledge and skill to help predict potential for success in the future. Test results are shared with parents at Career Night in January.

The Explore Test is required of all incoming freshmen and is administered in March. Explore is the first component of the ACT testing program.

The Plan Test is the second component of the ACT Testing program. Plan is an in-school testing activity administered to sophomores in October. Colleges also begin to develop mailing lists based on student results.

The PSAT is a voluntary test administered in October to juniors who are college-bound. The PSAT lets a junior compare his or her ability to do college work with the ability of other college-bound juniors. The PSAT gives a student practice for taking college entrance exams because questions and scores are similar. It is also the first step in entering the scholarship competition conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Taking the test will get a student on mailing lists of colleges and universities interested in specific types of students. There is a small student fee that juniors are required to pay for this test.

The ACT is an entrance test accepted by colleges in the mid-western states. College-bound juniors are encouraged to take this test for the first time in the spring of their junior year. Seniors take this test as college and financial aid requirements dictate. Students register for this test by mail and may pick up forms in the Guidance Office.
