Viking Explorers Camp

The WLHS family would like to welcome you to the Viking Explorer Summer Program.   • Art Camp

    Coed Grades 4-8
    The theme for summer 2019 Art Camp is “Michelangelo Was Not a Ninja Turtle.” Students will create relevant and engaging artwork based on the works of real artists.

  • Basketball Camp—Boys

    Grades 2-8
    The format for our Viking Basketball Camps is designed for a more concentrated emphasis on both offensive and defensive skill development. Drills will match the age group and skill level of players.

    Grades 5-8 1:30-3:00 p.m.

  • Basketball Camp—Girls

    Grades 1-8
    The goal of this camp is to improve the basketball skills of each camper. Emphasis is placed on individual offensive skills with special attention given to shooting, dribbling and passing skills.

    Grades 4-6 1:30-3:00 p.m.
    Grades 7-8 3:30-5:00 p.m.

  • Cheerleading Camp

    Grades K-9
    Sessions will focus on cheerleading skill development in the areas of jumps, sidelines, cheers, gymnastics, stunts and dance. Grade level sessions will be held for girls entering grades K-3, 4-6 and 7-9.

    Girls will also cheer the first half with the varsity cheer team at the first home football game of 2019

  • Introduction to Robotics

    Coed (3 Offerings-Same Class) Grades 5-9
    Students in this program will learn how to build and program a robot to compete in a game similar to those used in a high school competition. Participants will learn how to mount motors and servos to run a vehicle.

  • Soccer Camp

    Coed Grades 3-8
    Soccer camp is an opportunity to build Christian relationships through hard work and competition while keeping a proper focus. Build on fundamentals and skills needed to succeed and enjoy the game of soccer. Students will practice at Doyne Park

  • Steelband Camp

    Coed Grades 6-9 and limited to 11 students
    The Viking Steel program provides students the opportunity to learn and play the traditional instruments of Trinidad and Tobago. Participants will learn how steel pans are built and tuned, discover how steelband arrangements are written, and will craft their own sticks to play with. Students will perform a small concert at the end of the week for family and friends who wish to attend.

    Reading music is a necessity, but percussion experience is not.

  • Strength & Conditioning Club—Boys & Girls

    Grades 6-9
    This 6-week program will help athletes to become stronger, faster, better jumpers and more explosive. All young people who are looking to maximize performance are encouraged to join.

  • Theater Camp

    Coed Grades 5-9
    Drama camp will introduce students to theater basics. We will work on stage directions, characterization and scenes. Theater games will be used to improve students’ abilities to communicate verbally and non-verbally. Drama games will increase students' concentration, problem solving skills and ability to work in groups.

  • Volleyball Camp—Girls

    Grades 2-8
    Volleyball players will be challenged to take their game to the next level. Individual skills that will make each girl a more dynamic contributor to their team will be developed. Come ready to learn!

  • WELS Summer Band Camp

    Grades 6-9
    Open to Instrumental Music students who have had 1 year of lessons on their band instrument. This is an overnight camp and includes all meals and accommodations. For further information go to

  • Wrestling Camp

    Boys Grades 1-9
    Beginning wrestlers are presented with the foundation skills required of Viking wrestlers. New skills and techniques are introduced each day. Time is also spent discussing proper conditioning, nutrition and sport-related exercise.
