Aquaponics at WLHS

Chemistry teacher, Mr. Josh Nelson, is growing plants in an aquaponics tank in the greenhouse. This aquaponics tank is a small scale version of a commercial product that uses waste from the fish in the bottom tank to fertilize plants growing in the upper tank. Currently, the talapia are helping to grow basil and a few cherry tomatoes. His goal is to increase the number of edible species that are growing in Wisco's greenhouse, both fish and plant, and to expose students to a model of sustainable development practices.
