Sixth Annual Civil Rights Trip

Over Easter break, 32 sophomores and juniors participated in the annual WLHS Civil Rights Tour. The students and their chaperones traveled south to visit sites that were significant to the Civil Rights movement in America including The Atlanta History Center, The Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site The Edmund Pettis Bridge in Selma, AL, the Rosa Parks Museum, and iconic sites associated with Dr, Martin Luther King, Jr. Students also engaged in guided discussions about what they saw and race relations then and now in addition to recording their reflections in journal entries. Without exception, students refer to this experience as one that creates significant personal growth.
