Slinger Wins Slugfest

A rainstorm cut short the Vikings non-conference baseball game at Slinger on Thursday, but not before the host Owls scored nine runs in the bottom of the 5th to send Wisco to a 15-12 defeat.

The Vikings scored five times in the 1st inning thanks to RBI singles from Carter Raabe and Elijah Henning and two errors and a passed ball from Slinger. But the Owls took advantage of a two-out error and got three runs back in the bottom of the frame.

Kyle Ristow's steal of home and Noah Bilitz's two-run homer helped Wisco extend the lead to 8-3 in the 2nd, and Henning was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the 4th to make the game 9-3. After Slinger scored three times in the bottom of the inning, the Vikings pushed across three more in the top of the 5th thanks to a two-run double from Mason Ruh, who later scored on an error.

With a 12-6 lead, things looked good even though the skies were threatening. But three Viking errors in the inning helped open the floodgates for the Owls, who scored nine times and were still batting with nobody out when the rain forced the game to be halted.
