Monarchs

Mr. Jason Nickel’s biology classes and (hallway onlookers) have enjoyed watching monarch caterpillars grow, pupate and hatch as adult butterflies over the last few weeks. Once the monarch's wings dry out and are ready for flight, the butterflies are tagged with a tiny sticker and released. Should they be caught again, the sticker will help scientists gather data on the monarch's incredible 2,000 mile migration to the Oyamel forests in Mexico. Bon voyage!
