Viking Christian Leaders: Peace
Congratulations to Julia Treichel ('20) and Evann Vasatko ('20) who were selected as Viking Christian Leaders for the month of December under “The Wisco Way Word": Peace. We thank God for the way Julia and Evann have modeled servant leadership at school and in the community. Any student or staff member may nominate a student for the Viking Christian Leadership Award which is presented each month to one young man and one young woman.
Julia Treichel is from Brookfield, Wis. She is a member at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wauwatosa, and also attended grade school at St. John’s.
Currently a senior at Wisco, Julia has participated in volleyball, basketball, and softball (all four years), has sung with A Capella choir (all four years), has been a part of Wisco Witnesses in the World (10-12), Viking Christian Leadership Academy (12), and NHS (12).
Julia volunteers at her church by participating in youth group activities and assisting VBS mission trips to a partner congregation in South Carolina.
After graduation from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Julia plans to attend Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville to pursue a degree in nursing and continue playing volleyball.
Julia characterizes peace in Christian leadership as "stepping out from social norms to represent Christ, and working with one another to achieve a goal."
Evann Vasatko is from Brookfield, Wis. He is a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waukesha and also attended grade school at Trinity.
Currently a senior at Wisco, Evann has participated in soccer (all four years), and was team captain his junior and senior years, participated in track and field (9,11,12), and was in student council (12), NHS (12), Viking Christian Leadership Academy (12), and with WWW, assisting the mission trip to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Evann volunteers at his church as an usher and on their tech team.
In his spare time, Evann enjoys soccer and longboarding.
After graduation from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Evann has applied to MSOE and UW-Madison to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
Evann characterizes peace in Christian leadership as "letting your light shine in everything you do. Trusting that God has a plan and is working everything out for our good."
