Viking Christian Leaders: Gratitude

Congratulations to Tongyu (Harry) Tang ('20) and Gennesis Valle (’20) who were selected as Viking Christian Leaders for the month of November under “The Wisco Way Word": Gratitude. We thank God for the way Harry and Gennesis have modeled gratitude at school and in the community. Any student or staff member may nominate a student for the Viking Christian Leadership Award which is presented each month to one young man and one young woman.
Harry Tang is from Wenzhou, China. He is a member at The Ridge Community Church and attended grade school in his hometown in China.

Currently a senior at Wisco, Harry has participated in cross country (11), Inspiration and A Capella Choirs, is a part of student council (12) and the international leadership team this year, and also co-organized Wisco’s Green Team and Rubiks Cube Club.

Harry volunteers at his church assisting with children’s ministry. In his spare time, Harry enjoys graphic design.

After graduation from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Harry would like to pursue a degree in industrial design and is applying to Georgia Institute of Technology.

Harry characterizes gratitude in Christian leadership as "being thankful for the blessings God has given him and never taking people's kindness for granted."

Gennesis Valle is from Milwaukee, Wis. She is a member at Iglesia Joshua in Sheboygan, and attended Mt. Lebanon Lutheran Grade School in Milwaukee.

Currently a senior at Wisco, Gennesis has participated in track and field (all four years), Wisco Kids and A Capella choirs, participated in the Wisco musical (11, 12), play (12), make up crew (9-12), was in Agents of Change (9) and WWW (10-11).

Gennesis volunteers at her church teaching Sunday school for toddlers and singing for worship services. In her spare time, Gennesis enjoys performing in Wisco Kids, spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys drawing and sketching.

Gennesis has applied to Marquette University where she hopes to attend following graduation from WLHS. Genesis intends to major in biology and plans to pursue a career in dermatology.

Gennesis characterizes a Viking Christian Leader as "someone who has the mindset and attitude of service. A person who puts others first, just as Christ did for us."
