Viking Christian Leaders: Truth

Congratulations to Lauren Butler (’20) and Nathan Miller (’21) who were selected as Viking Christian Leaders for the month of October under the “Wisco Way Word": Truth. We thank God for the way Lauren and Nathan have modeled truth at school and away from school. Any student or staff member may nominate a student for the Viking Christian Leadership Award which is presented each month to one young man and one young woman.
Lauren Butler is from West Allis, Wis. She is a member at Star of Bethlehem in New Berlin, and attended Grace Christian Academy in Falls Church, Virginia, where her family lived.

Currently a senior at Wisco, Lauren has participated in girls soccer (all four years), Viking Marching Band (all four years), and is drum major this year, pit orchestra for the musical (11), freshman choir (9), Cantorei choir (10), A Capella choir (12), Inspiration (10-12), woodwind ensemble (9-12), Viking Steel Pan (12), and percussion ensemble (12). She is also in Viking Christian Leadership Academy this year (12), WWW (10, 12) previously AOC (her freshman year), and has attended and will again participate in the mission trip to Toronto this year.

Lauren volunteers at her church assisting with music camp and playing clarinet for worship services.

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys soccer and any activity with music.

After graduation from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Lauren plans to apply to Wisconsin Lutheran College or the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for a degree in music education.

Lauren characterizes truth in Christian leadership as "someone who is willing to help others grow as well as accepting personal growth. They speak love and are always there to share Christ-like faith and wisdom."

Nathan Miller is from Muskego, Wis. He is a member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he attended grade school.

Currently a junior at Wisco, Nathan has participated in basketball (9-10), track (9-10). He was a member in the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy (10), is in the Viking Christian Leadership Academy, and plans to attend the mission trip to Africa this summer.

Nate volunteers at his church as an usher. In his spare time, Nate enjoys watching and playing sports, and listening to music.

Nathan plans to attend college after graduating from high school.

Nathan characterizes truth in Christian leadership as "someone who is compelled and driven by the love of Christ to be a light, even if that means going against the popular thing to do. Someone who cannot help but reflect Jesus’ love because of everything Christ did for us."
