Celebrating Lunar New Year 2021

Students and teachers celebrated the Year of the Ox with a Lunar New Year dinner party on Friday, February 12.
Party attendees enjoyed food from three local restaurants that specialize in Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese cuisines.  After the delicious meal, party attendees received a traditional red envelope with chocolates and a chance to win some prizes.  Games included "Pin the Horn on the Ox" and "Guess the Number of Fortune Cookies in the Jar." The attendees also viewed a surprise video with heartfelt messages sent from classmates and recent alumni around the world.

Other post-dinner activities included a photo booth, calligraphy, origami star making, and karaoke that lasted well into the evening.

WLHS's annual celebration of the Lunar New Year is an opportunity for the school community to celebrate alongside some of our international students for whom the holiday is the most cherished family event of the year.  The annual party also allows school staff and American peers to learn about the customs and traditions of our international students.

May your Year of the Ox be blessed!
