Alum Featured in New Berlin Magazine

This month’s publication of New Berlin Neighbors, a local magazine for residents, features the Aufdemberge family. Mark Aufdemberge currently serves as pastor of Jordan Lutheran Church in West Allis, which helps operate Lamb of God Lutheran School. Mark and his wife, Deb, have three children who have all gone to WLHS. Read about how Alex (‘11), Graeme (‘16), Lydia (‘21), and their parents serve Christ and each other in the article written by Cindy Wendland. May God bless all their endeavors!
Mark and Deb Aufdemberge have been married for 33 years, they have three children and they traveled to three European countries on their 25th wedding anniversary. They met in Watertown, WI and were married at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown on May 29, 1988. Their three children are Alex (wife Lita), Graeme, and Lydia. One of their best memories was traveling to Britain, Ireland and Scotland for their 25th anniversary with their children. They fondly remember a special incidence of kindness when a store owner bought their lunch since they had run out of Euros and had expected to charge the meal.

Debbie has a bachelor's degree in interior design from Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, Massachusetts. She worked at Ethan Allen furniture stores in Arizona and California. She has great memories of working with the Kincaid family, the franchise owner, and helping many wonderful people. Debbie was especially thrilled to have worked with California Congressman John Doolittle. She did the interior design work for both his California and Washington D.C. homes.

After moving to Wisconsin in 2010, Debbie began working for the Sherwin-Williams company in its color design program. During her time there, Debbie represented the company in two television commercials as well as a MKE Lifestyle Magazine article in 2019. Another highlight for Debbie was being able to help First Lady Tonette Walker with the color design of her home.

In April of 2020, Debbie formed her own company, Debra's Color Consults & Design. She now focuses her attention on helping homeowners and business owners choose colors for the interiors and exteriors of their homes and businesses. Debbie also helps many painters in the area when they need color consultations for their customers. Debbie loves her job and is thankful she has formed so many friendships with painters and homeowners over the years. She can be reached at colorprodeb@gmail.com.

Mark graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1991. He has served congregations in Mason Coty, Iowa, Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Penryn, California. Mark currently serves as pastor of Jordan Lutheran Church in West Allis. This church is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and operates the Lamb of God School in West Allis together with Woodlawn Lutheran Church.

Mark and Deb's oldest son, Alex, graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School (WISCO), then studied pharmacy at Concordia University in Mequon. He graduated with his doctorate in 2018. Alex is a pharmacist at Prescriptions Plus in West Allis. He married Carmelita (Lita) Booker in 2017. Lita is pursuing her doctorate in industrial psychology and is currently the Executive Director of New Beginnings - A Home for Mothers, located in Milwaukee. New Beginnings provides a loving and supportive place for single mothers to start a new life. This Christian-based home for mothers allows a resident to become a responsible parent — by raising her new baby in a caring environment. In addition, Alex and Lita are expecting their first child at the end of February. We wish them well!

The middle child is Graeme. He graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School in 2016. During his time at WISCO, Graeme was on the cross-country and golf teams, sang in the choir and went to Colorado and Grenada on mission trips. While in Grenada, Graeme not only taught children the Word of God, but also taught the children how to swim. Surprisingly, 90% of the children on that island nation do not know how to swim. Graeme attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and now works at the Sherwin-Williams retail store in Muskego.

Lydia is currently a senior at Wisconsin Lutheran High School. She has been on the cheerleading team since freshman year. She also has been a member of the WISCO track team and competed in hurdles, discus and shotput and was a conference champion in 2019. During her time at WISCO, Lydia traveled to Colorado on a mission trip, served the community in Chick-fil-A leadership events, served on student council and is a member of the National Honor Society. After graduation, she plans to pursue a college degree in speech pathology.

The Aufdemberge family has two rambunctious dogs, Bella and Coco, plus a Maine Coon cat named KiKi. When they have the opportunity, Mark and Debbie enjoy traveling. In addition to their 25th anniversary trip to the UK, they have been to Iceland and ten European countries for their 30th anniversary. The city of Paris was their favorite part of the trip. Mark and Debbie have also traveled to Hawaii, Mexico, Canada and all of the U.S. states except for Alaska.

The family has lives in Regal Manors West since 2006. They really love their neighborhood because it is filled with so many friendly people, and it is conveniently located. They enjoy living out their family motto of Serving Christ and Each Other in the city of New Berlin that they love, and they enjoy reading articles about other families each month in this publication. This month we thank them for sharing their story and serving many in the community.
