Practical Arts Field Trip

Some may remember when a new baseball stadium was built in Milwaukee (1996-01) and the roof didn’t operate perfectly. Millwrights, industrial mechanics, were called to fix it. WLHS students visited the training facilities of the local United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, which includes millwrights. The millwright responsible for the stadium roof repair shared insights about a career in commercial construction. Students also visited a local maker of robotic factories, Midwest Engineered Systems Inc. After the day's tours were complete, students reflected on where their God-given talents might be applied in a variety of trades.
