West Sneaks by Vikings

The Wisco softball team suffered its first defeat of the season on Tuesday afternoon, as they were unable to mount much offense against New Berlin West in a 2-0 loss at The Rock.

Sydney Vitangcol took the circle for the Vikings and matched goose eggs with her West counterpart until the bottom of the 6th inning. A wild pitch on a third strike allowed a runner to reach base. The next batter tripled to center to bring in the game's first run, and the runner on third scored on a passed ball to give West a 2-0 advantage. Wisco put the tying run on base in the top of the 7th but were unable to cash in.

Vitangcol struck out 11 in six innings of work and allowed just four hits. She also accounted for two of the Vikings' five hits on offense. Wisco returns to action on Wednesday, April 20, when they host South Milwaukee at Rainbow Park.
