Vikings Roll to Fifth Straight Win

The Wisco baseball team used a strong pitching performance from Lucas Oswald and a big 7th inning from the offense to win their fifth consecutive game, an 11-1 triumph over New Berlin Eisenhower at The Rock on Tuesday night.

Oswald went the distance on the mound, allowing just four hits and one earned run while striking out five. Will Hotchkiss singled in Zach Adams for the game's first run in the bottom of the 1st inning, then plated Eli Lepke in the 3rd to make it 2-0, Vikings. Jake Ross and Logan Abramowski teamed up on a double steal in the 4th to make it 3-0, but the Lions would score once in the 6th to make it a narrow 3-1 lead heading into the final inning. That's when the Vikings' patience and persistence at the plate paid off. They sent 13 men to the plate and brought across 8 runs to blow the game open. Abramowski had the big hit in the inning, a double to center to bring home two runs, but in all, seven different players drove in runs with hits, bases-loaded walks, or sac flies.

Hotchkiss paced the offense with three hits and a walk in six plate appearances; he drove in a team-high three runs. Abramowski went 2-4 with a walk and Oswald helped his own cause by going 2-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Wisco faces Eisenhower again in a night contest at The Rock. The two teams square off a second time on Thursday, April 21, at 7:30 PM.
