Softball Trounces Hawks

The Wisco softball team knocked off Greenfield on Monday afternoon by a score of 16-4. The Vikings led from the jump and blew the game open with eight runs in the final inning.

Productive outs by Chloe Koschnitzke and Emily Buch got Wisco on the board in the top of the 1st. Koschnitzke drove in two more with a single in the 3rd and another one with a groundout in the 5th. Buch added an RBI single in that inning and Kenly Frey's line drive single brought in Buch to make it 7-2 Vikings. The Hawks added a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning to narrow the lead to 7-4, but Sydney Vitangcol singled in a run in the 6th, and the team exploded for eight runs in the top of the 7th. RBIs from Frey, Sofia Schroeder, Koschnitzke, Buch, and Maddie Cowell powered the big inning.

Vitangcol picked up the win in the circle, fanning 13 while allowing three earned runs. She also went 4-5 at the plate with three runs scored. Koschnitzke finished with five RBI to lead the team.

The Vikings play a doubleheader with Pius XI on Tuesday, April 26. Game 1 begins at 4:00 PM at Kulwicki Park.
