Baseball Loses Heartbreaker to Whitnall

The Viking baseball team saw victory slip through their fingers on Friday evening, allowing two runs in the top of the 7th to Whitnall and falling by a score of 5-4.

Wisco led 4-3 despite only getting three hits on the day. They scored twice in the 1st courtesy of a wild pitch and an error by the Falcons' catcher, then added two more runs in the 3rd when Carlos Walta doubled home Ryder Derouin and Will Hotchkiss. The game would remain 4-3 until the top of the 7th. With two outs, the Falcons lined a single to right. The next batter reached on an error that put runners on 2nd and 3rd and kept the inning alive. Whitnall followed that up with a two-run single to take the lead and set the Vikings down in order in the bottom of the inning to claim the win.

The result spoiled a solid outing on the mound by Lucas Oswald. He went the distance for Wisco, allowing just one earned run and striking out three.

The Vikings take on Wauwatosa East at Breitlow Field on Saturday.
