WLHS Library 2022 Fall Semester in Review

The library was a busy place first semester! 112 classes and clubs made use of the library space and its resources. Specialized library guides for research and classes were created as well as special book lists. Our library has over 55 databases with a wide variety of topics and reading levels. Over 28,684 searches were completed in our library databases this semester.

The library is more than just books, but they're important too! Of the 8,967 books in the library, there were 1,802 checkouts last semester. 200 new books were added to the library which included creating two new sections, Manga and Spanish language books. The top three most popular titles were:
1. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
2. Attack on Titan Vol. 1 by Hajime Isayama
3. The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynne Barnes

The library saw almost 24,000 students check in during the school day this semester. They also proctored 548 tests for teachers, laminated over 1,000 pages for teachers and students, and assisted students with research, reviewing papers, and finding books to suit their tastes.

In semester two, we will continue to offer programming for Black History Month and National Poetry Month, focus on creating a Maker Space/Innovation Lab, and offer new resources for classroom use for teachers.
