Annual Civil Rights Trip

Over the 2023 spring break, 32 students and their chaperones traveled south for the annual civil rights trip. Their itinerary marked sites significant to the American Civil Rights Movement including Springfield, Illinois, the Atlanta History Center, Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site, Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, Rosa Parks Museum, and iconic sites associated with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Students also engaged in guided discussions about what they saw and race relations then and now in addition to recording their reflections in journal entries. Without exception, students refer to this experience as one that prompts significant personal growth.
