Kayaking Funtivity

Check out a recent Student Homes kayaking "funtivity" from the perspective of our student Zihan Yin!
I loved this funtivity! Funtivities are a time when members of our Funky Family can get together and have fun! We have five different funtivities this quarter. I signed up for kayaking with Mr. and Mrs. Halter, because I like to explore nature and to take pictures.

On that beautiful Saturday afternoon, Mr. Halter and Mrs. Halter drove us to downtown Milwaukee.  Everyone got the right-sized kayak and life jacket. After a demonstration, we were ready to go!

It was my first time kayaking; I was so excited to start. It was not as easy as I thought would be. Everyone else was fast and looked relaxed.  I was moving very slowly compared to others.  After Gilbert, another student kayaking in our group, showed me a technique of how to use the paddle, I could go a little bit faster.

Regardless of all the paddling we had to do, the view was AMAZING.  It was a sunny day, the sky was blue, and people gathered along the river. As we rowed down the river, we got to explore the scenes of downtown Milwaukee. We saw some bridges open for big boats as well as more kayakers and people riding on yachts.

When we finally got back to the station, everyone was hungry and tired, but most of all we had a lot of fun.  We stopped at the Milwaukee Public Market to get some food, and then we went back home.

Days later, Strife, another student who went on this funtivity, was still talking about how great the kayaking experience was, and that we both would love to go kayak again in the spring!
