Viking Christian Leaders: Humility

Congratulations to Lucas Nygaard ('20) and Miriam Snyder ('20) who were selected as Viking Christian Leaders for the month of April under “The Wisco Way Word": Humility. We thank God for the way Lucas and Miriam have modeled Christian humility at school and in the community. Any student or staff member may nominate a student for the Viking Christian Leadership Award which is presented each month to one young man and one young woman.
Lucas is from Cudahy, Wis. He is a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cudahy and also attended St. Paul Lutheran Grade School.

Lucas is currently a senior at Wisconsin Lutheran High School and will be attending xxx this fall.

Miriam is from Milwaukee, Wis. She is a member at St. Matthew Lutheran Church and attended Christ the Lord Lutheran Grade School in Brookfield.

Currently a senior at Wisco, Miriam has participated in basketball (9-10), track (9-11) and cross country (10-12), been in band (9-12), choir (10-12) Viking Steelband (9-12) Viking Marching Band (9-12), Woodwind Ensemble (12) Pit Orchestra (11), attended the WWW mission trip to St. Louis (10), adn mission trip to Toronto (11), and was also in NHS (12).

Miriam volunteers at her church singing in choir, serving church meals, and playing bassoon for church worship services.

For fun, Miriam enjoys spending time with family and friends, doing anything active, listening to and playing music, and spending time outside.

After graduation from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Miriam is attending Wisconsin Lutheran College for a degree in nursing.

Miriam characterizes humility in Christian Leadership as someone who leads with an encouraging and hard-working attitude and someone who puts others first. Someone who is willing to work his or her hardest to help others succeed and not expect anything in return.
