Today (Sept 3) we received confirmation that the Milwaukee Health Department has reconsidered their original rulings on certain athletic activities and has made the following decisions, which are to be announced this Friday, in their weekly news release: As it pertains to Wisconsin Lutheran:
has been reclassified as a moderate-risk/contact activity, and because of that, MHD will allow schools in the city of Milwaukee to play boys soccer in the fall. We will take that opportunity and move forward then with a boys soccer season this fall.

This has been a roller coaster of emotions and decisions, and we appreciate the patience, support and encouragement of our students, families and our coaching staff.
As always, we thank you for your support of Viking Athletics.
To ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations set forth by the Milwaukee Health Department, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Wisconsin Lutheran High School is being required to make some adjustments to the 2020-2021 fall athletic season.
- Football and Boys Soccer, because they have been labeled high-contact (high risk) activities, will not take place this fall, and will be moved to the WIAA’s alternate season in the early spring. Specific information will be coming from the coaching staff over the next weeks.
- Cross Country and Volleyball, because they have been labeled low-contact (low risk) activities, will take place this fall, with modified schedules and protocols in place.
As you know, the current pandemic has created highly complex scenarios in which to safely execute activities both inside and outside the classroom. Our athletic programs are no exception, and teach program has been evaluated independently by local health officials as well as internally to determine if/when each sport season can take place. We feel we have exhausted every avenue in attempting to participate in a normal fall athletic
season for all of our activities.
Please know that Wisconsin Lutheran spent considerable time attempting to fully explore all options with local health officials. However, it is essential that we take all steps necessary to ensure that our school remains compliant with local regulations. Our primary concerns are the health and safety of our school community, and our foremost priority is taking every precaution so that our face-to face instruction can continue.
We also want you to know that we are proud of the efforts put in by our dedicated coaching staff. They have been remarkable in their resolve to support and fight for the sports they represent, and even though we are not able to play football and soccer this fall, they have never lost their passion to best serve your kids.
Many schools around the state have made similar, difficult decisions to delay some of their fall programs to spring. As of today, eleven of the fourteen Woodland Conference schools have also made the decision to play football and soccer in the spring alternate season. As a result, we are confident that football and soccer can experience a full and competitive season at that time, if health conditions allow.
As always, we thank you for your patience, understanding, and for your support of Viking Athletics.
Wisconsin Lutheran has also been working on plans for the fall. We are in the process of installing a livestreaming camera for our outdoor athletic field. For the past two years, we have been livestreaming all events from our main gym, so this adds to our capabilities. You can sign up for this service at nfhsnetwork.com
Updated schedules will be posted on our website at wlhs.org/athletics
as they are developed and released.
