The English Language Learner (ELL) Resource Center will provide support for students desiring to become more proficient in the English language. Specifically for the international student program, ELL is also for domestic students from families with limited English speaking emphasis at home. One-on-one assistance can be for reading, writing and also vocabulary needed for history, science and the Christian health and wellness courses.
The Extended Learning Center operates as part of the WLHS Guidance Department and is available to freshmen in need of academic assistance, with an emphasis on promoting student independence through improved study skills. The Extended Learning Center monitors the progress of all students throughout their freshman year.
The WLHS Library is a quiet and welcoming area where students seek information, study, collaborate, and enjoy recreational reading. A variety of books are offered for different reading levels and learning styles. Materials can be found for educational, informational, and recreational reading that support our curriculum. There are also group study rooms where students can work collaboratively on projects. WLHS has a book club, Page Turners, as well. Students will meet once a month during lunch to discuss the book read by the group.
The Library/Media Center is open Monday through Friday, 7:15 AM to 3:30 PM throughout the school year.
Just as high school is a time for personal growth, it is also a time for professional growth. That is why the Student Services Office at WLHS is equipped with the people and programs to help students plan for life after graduation. Not only does the staff in the Student Services Office supply students with career exploration workshops and career searches, they also provide assistance to students in need of extra help with study skills.
