Two Viking wrestlers capped their seasons and careers with an appearance at the WIAA State Individual Championships on Saturday at Kaukauna High School.

Senior Amos Weide (195) placed 5th. He won his quarterfinal match over Roman Martell of Oshkosh West by fall in 3:45. He then fell in 4:58 to eventual runner-up Rudy Detweiler of Stoughton in the semifinals before bouncing back to defeat Gage Timm of Shawano by fall in 3:53 to claim fifth place.

Senior David Carson (113) faced a tough draw. He lost his quarterfinal match to eventual fourth-place finisher Easton Cooper of D.C. Everest by fall in 4:21. He then lost his first wrestleback match 16-5 by major decision to Tyler Klein of Hartford, the eventual third-place finisher.

The Viking wrestlers advanced two grapplers on to state at Saturday's WIAA Sectional Championship. David Carson and Amos Weide both advanced by virtue of second-place finishes in their respective weight classes. Carson (113) defeated Whitnall's Matao Chavarria 14-4 by technical fall, then knocked off Wilmot's Gianni Reballato 6-4 by fall. He fell to undefeated champion Connor O'Donnell of South Milwaukee 10-3, but claimed his spot at state with a no contest victory over Chavarria for second place. Weide (195) won 8-4 by fall over Trae Ford of Union Grove, then bested Angelo Rivera of West Allis Central 12-7 by fall. Champion Sam Paar of Oak Creek got the better of him, but he bounced back to defeat Brookfield East's Aaron Botsch 10-4 by fall to earn a trip to state. Ben Haakenson (160) concluded a fine season with a 5th place finish. The Division 1 State Championship is scheduled for Saturday, February 13 at Kaukauna High School.

The Viking wrestlers took to the mat at the WIAA Regional Championship on Saturday morning at Wauwatosa West. The team placed a solid fourth while advancing three wrestlers forward to the sectional championship.

David Carson (113) and Amos Weide (195) advanced as champions of their respective weight classes, while Ben Haakenson (160) qualified as a runner-up. Other place winners included:

The Viking wrestling team placed five individuals in the top three of their respective weight classes en route to a fourth place finish at the 10-team Woodland Conference Tournament on Wednesday night. David Carson claimed the individual title in the 113 weight class. In doing so, he became the first Wisco wrestler to win three individual conference championships since the school joined the Woodland Conference in 2018-2019. Joining Carson atop the podium was Alex Sutter, who was the champion of the 195-pound weight class. Other placers for the Vikings included Ben Haakenson (160) and Amos Weide (220), who both took second. Nathan Weber (145) place third. The team is set to compete at the WIAA Regional Championship on January 30. Competition begins at 9:30 AM at Wauwatosa West.

The Viking wrestling team went 1-2 on Wednesday evening at the Waukesha North Quadrangular. Wisco defeated the hosts 48-25, but lost to Waukesha South (54-16) and Pewaukee (52-18). 

Amos Weide (195) had a fine individual night for the Vikings, winning all three of his matches by pin.

Wisco competes at the Woodland Conference Tournament on Wednesday, January 20. Weight classes 106-132 will wrestle at Pewaukee High School. Weight classes 138-170 will wrestle at New Berlin West High School. Weight classes 182-285 will wrestle at South Milwaukee High School. All sessions are scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM

New Berlin Wrestling defeated the Vikings on the mat on Wednesday night by a score of 42-30.

Victories were won by Jared Henning (152), Alex Sutter (182), Amos Weide (195), David Carson (120), and Tre Marks (126).

The Vikings are at Pewaukee to face the Pirates on January 13.

After a few cancellations by other schools, the Viking wrestlers were finally able to take to the mat and compete on Wednesday night. They made the most of the opportunity, cruising to a 62-18 win at West Allis Central.

Trevion Marks (126), Nathan Weber (145), Ben Haakenson (160), James Sutter (170), Alex Sutter (182), and Amos Weide (220) each pinned their opponents to lead the team to victory.
