Academic Update One hundred percent of WLHS seniors completed the ACT exam as 11th-graders. For the 2021-22 school year, students in the top quarter averaged 28.2 (89th percentile) on the ACT, while the top half of the class scored an average of 25.1 (80th percentile). The top three quarters of the class averaged 22.8 (71st percentile) on the exam. Achieving a 22 on the ACT means a student scored in the top third of all students nationwide. Wisco’s all-student composite score was 20.5, outpacing the averages for the state (19.8) and Milwaukee district (16.1). As a whole, WLHS students also outperformed their peers’ ACT scores in math, reading, science, English, English language arts and STEM at the state and district level.

Highlights from the DPI school-wide report include:
The average achievement score for WLHS students was equal to or higher than 83.9% of high schools in the state.
WLHS achievement scores improved for students in nearly every demographic group (except non-native English Language Learner scores in English).
The average growth score for Target Group (low-level achievement) students at WLHS was equal to or higher than 75.9% of high schools in the state.
Additionally, when looking at the Milwaukee Choice School ONLY student report card, academic outcomes for target group (lowest achieving) students at WLHS were equal to or higher than 77.4% of high schools in the state.
Academic Priorities WLHS uses the ACT results along with other data to determine which academic areas are doing well, which need extra support, and which should be recognized for outstanding performance or progress. Although the ACT scores for our college-bound students are well above average, we are striving for continued improvement. As a school, we can continue to increase academic growth for all students. We expect all WLHS students to achieve their highest potential, and we believe we can do even better.
The effects of COVID learning have impacted all students. Our goal is to ensure all students have the knowledge, skills and Christian character necessary to succeed after high school.
