  • AP Spanish Language and Culture

    Not Offered 2025-26  AP Spanish Language and Literature serves as a college entry-level course for students planning on improving their fluency in the language and pursuing Spanish studies in college. This course is designed to nurture the student’s ability to read, write, hear, and speak Spanish and to continue learning about the Hispanic culture: 1) for the glory of God who created every language and culture  2) to help students in their future education and career by providing a valuable skill and increased cultural sensitivity and  3) to help give students the skills necessary to carry the Gospel to Spanish-speaking populations throughout the world. The goal of this course is to develop the student's ability to comprehend and produce spoken and written Spanish to the maximum potential.  By God’s grace, each student will advance in the skill and confidence needed to communicate the most important message on earth--the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • German 1

    This one year course is for beginning language students. It emphasizes the four basic language skills of listening comprehension, reading, writing, and speaking as well as vocabulary development and basic sentence structure. Students are also introduced to the German culture.

  • German 2

    This one-year course is for students who have successfully completed German 1. The second year program leads to a more comprehensive study of vocabulary, reading, writing, speaking, grammar and culture.

  • German 3

    This one-year course is for students who have successfully completed German 2. Greater proficiency in listening and in speaking is emphasized. Reading practice on a challenging level is pursued to increase the student’s ability to work with the language. A great deal of practice in writing and speaking the language is provided, along with a deeper immersion in the culture.

  • German 4

    This one-year course is for students who have successfully completed German 3. The course stresses increasing proficiency in listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing skills. Cultural activities at all levels of proficiency are part of the course.

  • Honors Spanish

    More rigorous than traditional Spanish 1, this full-year accelerated course best serves strong and motivated students (whether non-Spanish speaking or heritage speakers) who desire to build their Spanish language skills. Students will be introduced to Hispanic culture and learn language fundamentals, emphasizing vocabulary development, conversation, writing, and culture. Upon successful completion, students will most often continue to Spanish 3 rather than Spanish 2 and will be on track for AP Spanish senior year (if desired).

  • Latin 1

    This full-year introductory course uses a natural approach to language learning. Students learn the Latin language and Roman culture by reading about the family of a Roman Senator in 80 A.D. The family’s experiences in Rome and at their country villa give students an interesting backdrop as they acquire the rich language heritage of Latin.

  • Latin 2

    This full-year intermediate course is for students who have successfully completed Latin 1. Students acquire the remaining Latin grammar as they continue to follow the Roman family through life experiences such as banquets, schooling, betrothal, marriage, and Roman funeral customs. Note: This is an online course offered by Amazing Grace Virtual Academy.

  • Spanish 1

    This one-year course is for beginning language students with sound language skills. It is a study of the fundamentals of the language with emphasis on vocabulary development and sentence structure. It also introduces the students to Hispanic culture. *Spanish 1 is an introduction to Spanish as a second language course. We invite heritage speakers to take a test prior to the school year to be placed into a higher level course or to enroll in German or Latin. No course credit is given to heritage speakers who test out of Spanish 1.

    This one-year course is for students who have successfully completed Spanish 1. It is designed to deepen the students’ knowledge of the grammatical structure of the Spanish language as well as to expand their vocabulary. Hispanic culture is included in the text and in additional materials.

    This one-year course is for students who have successfully completed Spanish 2.
