Guidance Updates for Juniors, Sophomores & Freshmen
Junior Parents - at the beginning of November counselors met with Junior students to introduce ACT prep and begin the college search process. Through Naviance, students were shown how to access ACT test prep and how to use the different features of the program. All juniors are scheduled to take the ACT on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. Students also began the college search process by completing the Super Match tool in Naviance to identify schools which might be a good fit for them. Finally, students began to categorize those schools into "reach", "target" and "safe" schools for application purposes. A video presentation was sent to all virtual students in the junior class.
College Possible - Junior students are still able to apply for College Possible! College Possible is an after school program that assists students in the college application process. Junior year focuses on ACT test prep and essay writing and senior year will focus on application support. Click here to apply.
Sophomore Parents - Before Thanksgiving break, sophomores completed the Career Cluster Finder in Naviance. This is an assessment that identifies students' top three career clusters. Within these clusters students were able to explore careers that are related to their skills and interests. Parents can view the results for their child through their parent account. A video presentation was sent out to all virtual students in the sophomore class.
Freshman Parents - Freshmen will be meeting with counselors this week. Students will log into their Naviance account and review the features of the program. They will complete the Learning Style Inventory and go over results. A video presentation will be sent out to all virtual students in the freshman class.
