Congratulations to Benjamin Doerr ('22) and Nicholas Johnston ('22) who have advanced to National Merit Finalist standing. Benjamin and Nicholas entered the National Merit Scholarship Competition their junior year with over 1.5 million other students.
On the strength of their Selection Index qualifying scores in critical reading, math, and writing, Benjamin and Nicholas advanced to the next round of 50,000 applicants. This past fall, Benjamin's and Nicholas' qualifying scores moved them to semifinalist status, granted to just 16,000. To compete as a Finalist, Benjamin and Nicholas submitted their ACT scores, high school transcripts, extra-curricular and volunteer activities, and a self-descriptive essay. We praise God that Benjamin and Nicholas are now one of the 15,000 Finalists who will receive a Merit Scholarship Award and are eligible for one of the National Merit Scholarships. Well done, Benjamin and Nicholas!
