Applying Spanish

Before the end of the school year, students in upper-level Spanish classes enjoyed seeing artwork by Latin American artists at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The tours were led by Spanish-speaking docents and the students observed and had conversations about art that celebrated or offered insights into the culture and history of a variety of Hispanic or Latin American groups. After the mid-morning tour, students filled up on a variety of traditional plates at Botanas Mexican Restaurant on Milwaukee's southside. Spanish teacher Mr. Micah Hernandez ('01) observed, "After so much work listening and speaking the language this year, it was fun to sense the unique aspects of different cultures with our eyes and taste buds as well!"
