When Christ walked this earth, his physical presence and touch no doubt brought his followers great confidence and peace. We can’t shake our ascended Lord’s hand today, but that does not mean he doesn’t hold us.
In Word and Sacrament, we have elements that engage our senses every day with guidance, encouragement, correction, and the assurance of sins forgiven. Undeserving sinners like us can humbly and joyfully say that we are in the grip of Christ’s grace. The teen years are a physical and emotional roller coaster. Our privilege this year and every year, is to keep God’s promises and counsel in front of our students in and out of the classroom and to help them see how Christ is holding them in a steady grip of grace that he won’t release. Join us in asking God to help WLHS keep his Word at the center of all activity and that our teens find their identity in the grip of Christ’s grace.
