Natural Science Explorations

Biology students, with teacher Mr. Jason Nickels, spent time with United States Geological Survey scientists as they did water quality assessments on Honey Creek, the creek channel directly behind the high school. Students observed macroinvertebrate sampling and fish shocking techniques. The assessments are being done in preparation for a major creek revitalization project starting this fall funded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District. After the project is done, Wisco biology students will take part in monitoring the return of native species to the creek.
