The end of senior year is marked by several special events, culminating in the graduation ceremony.
During the final days of class, seniors receive their yearbook and yard sign and have Senior Breakfast, Reunion Zero, Senior Chapel, and more.
In particular, the International Program hosts a special banquet to celebrate the residential students and their families. After all the travel complications during the Covid-19 pandemic, it was a tremendous joy to welcome so many parents, siblings, and relatives from around the world. The seniors were presented with a class gift produced by the art department, and were represented in student speeches from their classmates Lily Dang (Vietnam) and Daniel Fasasi (Nigeria).
Mrs. Amy Goede, the English Department Head, gave an address to the graduates and families on behalf of the WLHS faculty. Mrs. Goede described the immeasurable contributions of the international students to the WLHS student body. “Because of these students,” she said, “we have learned perseverance, patience, compassion, vulnerability, and strength.”
Congratulations to the Class of 2023, and special congratulations to the 25 graduates in the International Student Program! We wish them God's richest blessings in all their future endeavors.
