Seniors Attend College Readiness Seminar in Madison
On April 26, the seniors in the Residential Program participated in the annual full-day college readiness seminar in Madison, designed to help them prepare for life after high school and begin thinking about their new identity as college students.
This year’s keynote speaker, life coach Emily Krill, led a StrengthsFinder workshop, guiding students in discovering their personal strengths and exploring how those talents can shape their future studies, careers, and personal growth. Other sessions focused on important topics such as mental health in college, including burnout and imposter syndrome, as well as practical advice for communicating with professors and academic expectations in higher education. Presenters also included a WLHS alumnus from Vietnam, who shared his experiences studying at an American university.
The seminar concluded with recreational time on the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus, where students visited the student union and explored State Street. Students left with not only helpful tools, but also a fresh awareness of how to thrive in a new environment — academically, socially, and personally.
