Softball Dominates Red Knights

The Wisco softball team erupted for nine runs in the 3rd inning on their way to a 14-0, 5-inning rout of Milwaukee Lutheran at Rainbow Park on Wednesday. Seven different players drove in runs and eight different players had hits in the victory. Kimmie Wandschneider limited the Red Knights to just one hit as the Vikings notched their second straight victory.

Alyssa Kieselhorst doubled in a run and later came around to score in the 1st and Lauren Braatz did the same in the 2nd as the home team opened up a 4-0 lead. Wisco put the game away with a nine-run third. Leah Pinnow, Wandschneider, and Melissa Tonn each drove in two runs with doubles; Kieselhorst and Reagan Derouin each drew bases-loaded walks, and Evah Pinnow drove in a run with a fielder's choice. The Vikings tacked on one more run in the 4th, and the game was called after the top of the 5th due to the ten-run rule.

Wisco scored its 14 runs on just seven hits thanks to 11 walks from the Red Knights. Tonn went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits. Kieselhorst and Wandschneider drove in three runs apiece and Braatz scored three runs. Wandschneider struck out five in five innings to earn the victory on the mound.
