A Modern Adaptation of Luther's Seal

A modern adaptation of Luther's seal was designed by WLHS Instructor Mr. Michael Wiechmann in our Fine Arts Department. This adaptation was designed as a gift which is given in a framed version each year to those international students graduating from WLHS. A large, framed version was used in the dedication of Honey Creek Hall and is prominently displayed there.

About the design, Mr. Wiechmann writes:
CROSS: The cross is central to the mission and daily activities of Wisconsin Lutheran High School. It is surrounded by a circle to show how the message and the action of Christ's perfect life, death on the cross, and resurrection is for all people of the world.

HEART: The heart shape that is segmented by glowing lines represents the light that Christ can bring to all people who are searching. Our hearts are broken and no matter what we try, they will be that way. However, there is hope because Jesus shed his blood for our sins and went to the cross to pay the price for our iniquities. In Christ, our hearts are restored.

ROSE: A small circle of X’s placed outside of the white rose pattern represents the world’s attempts to block the unstoppable message of the Gospel. The white rose reminds us that our faith gives us joy, comfort, and peace. Because of what Christ has already accomplished for us on the cross, God sees us as pure.

SKY: The sky is represented by a star-shape pattern and serves to remind us of the hope that we have in Heaven. In this life, we go through hills and valleys; these trials are represented by the triangle patterns outside the stars. Even during our hardest days, our hope in Heaven can always stand strong.

LOVE: The external circles around the shape represent the world and the various distances students travel to get to WLHS. The distances vary from large to small, but the central message of the cross connects us even after graduation when we are apart.
