Reflections from Visiting German Student

Former student Manuel from Germany, who studied at WLHS during his freshman year in 2016-17, reflects on his recent visit here to reconnect with his friends, teachers, and the school.
It was really great to be back at WISCO after leaving 2.5 years ago. It was nice to see that some of the things did not change over those years. For example, the cafeteria still serves the same type of food for lunch, especially the chocolate milk, which you have to open by yourself. Sports are still offered and are still popular.  Also, the message of Jesus and image of the school stayed the same. Even the smell inside the locker room did not change at all.

I simply enjoyed walking through the hallway, looking around, having flashbacks and talking to some teachers, especially Mrs. Grzanna.

The moment I enjoyed the most was when I walked with Atila from lunch to 5th period and halfway towards the classroom I saw Jaelen, Isaiah, Anthony, Deion, Christian, and Gerald. We were talking and were just happy to see each other again. These were the guys I usually hung out with back in 2016 and 2017. It was awesome to see them again. I was very grateful for that. I love how Jaelen, Isaiah, Christian, and Tony had new hairstyles.

I also like that my classmates are now seniors and play varsity football. Watching the game was really nice, because I used to play with them back in my freshman year and now seeing them on the varsity team. After the game I took a picture with Jaelen, Isaiah and Anthony. Super great!

That was one of the best experiences this year, if not THE best.

I thank God for giving me the opportunity to come back to the States and to see my old classmates again and walk around the place, that was part of my life for an entire year.
