Periodic Table of Black History

In tribute to African Americans who have made significant contributions to our country in a variety of fields, WLHS math and business teacher, Mrs. Shakirah Cousins, created a highly informative Periodic Table of Black History. On the table, viewers will find descriptions of 118 well-known and lesser known African Americans who made an important mark in art, politics, science, entertainment, entrepreneurship, athletics, and other areas.
Names many know like Frederick Douglass and Morgan Freeman are here, but so are some we should meet if we haven’t like Jacob Lawrence, Nella Larsen, and George Carruthers. Check out the table in our lower lobby. It is drawing attention from staff and students alike, all of whom remark about what they have learned. Mrs. Cousins is also willing to share a PDF template if you want to make your own. Make contact at shakirah.cousins@wlhs.org.
