Big Inning Clinches Win for Greendale

The Wisco baseball team suffered a narrow loss to Greendale on Monday, falling to the Panthers 5-4 at The Rock. A five-run third inning helped sew things up for Greendale.

The Viking tallied in the top of the 2nd on an RBI fielder's choice by Peyton Lenga. They stretched the lead to 4-0 in the top of the 3rd when Lucas Oswald doubled in a pair of runs and then came home himself on Zach Adams' single.

But defensive mistakes proved costly in the bottom of the inning. Two walks and two errors loaded the bases for the Panthers, who cashed in with a 3-run triple. An RBI single tied the game at 4-4, and a wild pitch brought home the go-ahead run for Greendale, and the Vikings were held hitless the rest of the way.

Oswald paced the offense with a 2-4 day at the plate and a pair of RBIs. Tyler Danko went 2-4 with a run scored. Mason Ruh struck out 8 in five innings of work on the mound.

The Vikings take on Greendale again on Tuesday, May 11, at GHS.
