Viking Shut Out Popes for Seventh Straight Win

The Wisco baseball team notched its 7th consecutive win on Wednesday, dominating Pius XI to the tune of a 12-0, 5-inning win at WLC.

Eddie Rynders started the game on the mound for the Vikings and was in control the whole way. He allowed just two hits and struck out four in a complete game effort.

Meanwhile, the Wisco bats were red-hot. The Vikings sent 12 men to the plate in the 2nd inning and brought home 8 runs. Lucas Oswald drove in a pair of runs in the inning, and the team took advantage of two errors, a passed ball, a balk, and a hit batsman to take a commanding lead.

Oswald, Zach Adams and Carlos Walta paced the offense. Each member of the trio went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Adams drove in a team-high four runs while Walta drove in two and scored three times. Rynders helped his own cause with a 3-for-4 day with the bat, as the Vikings rapped out 15 hits off of Popes pitching.

The team will go for its eighth consecutive victory when they face the Popes again on May 27 at The Rock. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 PM, weather permitting.
