Vikings Set School Scoring Record in Victory

The Viking basketball team lit up the scoreboard on Friday night, shooting 64% en route to a school record for regulation points in a 106-71 victory over Pius XI.

Wisco used a 16-5 run to break open the game midway through the first half. Jamiir Allen scored 10 of his 14 points in the game's first five minutes to help get the Vikings going. Josh Knueppel came off the bench to score seven quick points late in the half as Wisco used a 16-4 run to open things up further and take a 57-29 lead into the locker room. Alex Hernandez scored nine of his season-high 16 points after halftime and Kon Knueppel made an impact all night, scoring 23 points on 8-10 shooting, handing out a career-high eight assists, pulling down six rebounds, and blocking three shots.

The 106 points set a new regulation scoring record for Wisconsin Lutheran. The Vikings also scored 106 in a triple overtime victory over Germantown in December of 2016. The school's previous high scoring mark in regulation was 99, set last December against Waterford.

The Vikings outrebounded the Popes 37-19 and forced the visitors into 19 turnovers. More stats are available here.

The team resumes play at the Wisconsin Basketball Shootout at Concordia University on December 28. They will take on the Redbirds of De Pere in a 7:00 PM game.
