Defense Stops Minnehaha in Border Battle

The Wisco basketball team improved to 13-1 on the season after a 78-60 win over Minnehaha Academy at Minneapolis North High School. The game was played as part of the WBY Border Battle between Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The Vikings' victory was powered by a defense that forced 26 turnovers, including 16 in the first half, as Wisco built a 43-26 halftime lead. Seven of those forced turnovers came during a six-minute stretch that saw the Vikings take control of the game. The defensive pressure plus eight straight points from Jamiir Allen powered a 19-2 run that turned a 15-15 tie into a 34-17 Wisco lead.

Allen's 21 points led the team; he also added team highs in assists (five) and steals (six). MJ Townsend helped get the team started in the early going. Eleven of his career-high 13 points came in the first half; he added three rebounds, three assists, three steals, and five deflections as part of a strong overall game. Kon Knueppel scored 17 points on 7-11 shooting and Prentice Young had eight points, three assists, and three steals.
