Vikings Win Tenth Straight

Wisco pushed out to a big lead at Pius XI on Friday, then held off the Popes late for a 78-73 win. The victory gives the Vikings a 16-1 record and 10 consecutive wins.

A career-high 22 points from Alex Hernandez paced the team. He scored 12 of those in the first half to help stake Wisco to a 38-23 halftime lead. He then scored four more quick points out of the locker room, part of a 9-2 run to open the second half and give the Vikings' their biggest lead of the night at 47-25. The Popes shot 55% after halftime to trim the lead to 6 in the final minute, but free throws from MJ Townsend sealed the deal before Pius made a half-court shot at the buzzer to provide the final margin.

Hernandez added nine rebounds to go along with his team-high 22 points. Jamiir Allen added 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Josh Knueppel scored 11 points, Kon Knueppel pulled down 10 rebounds and blocked 3 shots, and Jordan Glenn had 6 points and 7 boards.
