Vikings Win Third Straight on Diamond

The Wisco baseball team won its third straight game on Friday night, a 10-4 triumph over Greenfield on the road.

Carlos Walta got the Vikings on the board in the top of the 3rd with a double that drove in Zach Adams and Ryder Derouin. Ziggy Johnston followed two batters later with a single that scored Walta and Will Hotchkiss to make it 4-0 Vikings. RBIs from Adams and Derouin the next inning extended the lead to 6-0. The Hawks scored four unearned runs in the bottom of the 4th to narrow the lead to 6-4, but a two-run single from Derouin in the top of the 6th gave Wisco some breathing room, and the team tacked on two more insurance runs before the game was over.

Hotchkiss picked up the win on the mound, allowing no earned runs and striking out four over four innings pitched. Logan Abramowski hurled three scoreless innings in relief to pick up the save. Adams led the team with three hits in five plate appearances; he also stole a base and scored three runs. Derouin drove in three runs and swiped three bases, and Abramowski was 2-4 with three steals.

The Vikings' record now stands at 8-3.
