AP Chemistry Highlights
Alumna Rachel Dziekan ('20) (pictured left) returned to WLHS to deliver a lecture on organic chemistry to AP Chemistry students. Rachel shared some of what she's learned about biochemical research at Wisconsin Lutheran College. It's a blessing to see our students return to share their God-given abilities and education.
Additionally, AP Chemistry students have been up to some fun and challenging things in the lab! Students were provided with full access to all the items in the lab with the following task: create a functioning galvanic cell (a wet-chemical battery) using anything in the lab. For full credit, the battery had to produce stable voltage above 1.0V for at least 30 seconds. No further instructions were given.
Each of the seven groups approached the problem differently, resulting in a total of seven different designs. After considerable trial and error, each group was successful!
