Vuntivity @ Arbor Day

Aiden Zhang (senior from Tianjin, China) describes our annual spring vuntivity (volunteer activity):  Arbor Day . . .

"Sunshine. Sweat. People.

In the morning of Saturday, all boys came out and did some tasks. We needed to clean three grass areas for three picnic tables, to build a new badminton court, and to clean some weeds around the houses.

Simon, Alfred, and I were in the same group. We were the digging group. Basically, we just digged a 2 meters times 2 meters times 10 centimeters cube. It sounded really easy, but it was actually not. It was way bigger than I thought, and the dirt was really hard to dig. What did I think after? I just figured that my back was really hurt.

Nate was an amazing worker, he made a perfect circle on the ground for the picnic table. He measured it, marked it, digged it, and cutted it step by step. He gutted the root of the grass underneath the dirt, and picked it up as a whole piece of turf. We could tell that he was not the first time to do this.

Can not wait for having a picnic at where we just built!"
